Czech documentary
Miff and I were asked to be in a Czech documentary about six weeks ago, so if anyone speaks Czech, and wants to watch it, here it is.

I can't speak Czech but had a quick look anyway. It looked quite interesting but had to stop watching in the end as the dual speaking got to me in the end. Miff is very cute though...!!
Argh, why was I mentioned on news at ten???
If it was about Mark McGowan, I specifically REFUSED to be interviewed about his planned art installation/funfair ride where people and actors were going to 'recreate the Piccadilly line' bomb experience by being locked in a dark tube set with a smoke machine for an hour.
I got phoned up all day about it it by the media, and I didn't play ball. I asked if they could speak to someone other than me. Rather than play the game by commenting and being outraged, which was clearly what everyone wanted, I spoke privately to Mark and the gallery owner instead and asked them about the installation. We spoke for a long time. At first I just asked interested questions and then eventually I said that I had been on the Piccadilly line.
Mark explained the art installation/experience was about 'exploring his fears'.
I said I was 100% supportive of that, and the idea about him and members of the public exploring their fears.
I said my *personal* opinion was that that could be better done by having an unknown tube line experience as the installation rather than specifically trying to recreate the Piccadilly line experience in which 26 people died and 300 were injured.
I said I thought it was likely that he would get crucified by the media for it.
I wondered why did he have to advertise the installation as being the Piccadilly line experience? Why not just explore fears of public transport generally in an as-yet-unhappened tube bomb in the future?
Especially as he admitted that he hadn't done any research into what actually happened on the Piccadilly line, so it wasn't a recreation of it anyway.
Anyway it was quite a productive conversation as Mark said he thought there was something wrong with the art concept but he wasn't quite sure what. And that he thought it might be better being not based on a historical experience that had already happened but on a future bomb concept.
And we left it there and he wanted to call me back and he wanted me to visit the gallery and I said I'd try to, and good luck with it all
and the media carried on calling all day and telling me Mark was now telling them he had spoken to me, which was a bit annoying as I specifically DIDN'T want to be mentioned and it was a private conversation
and now I find out the installation has been cancelled.
Well, don't blame me for that: that was Mark's decision. I was supportive of the installation. He called me up and said he was going to cancel it because London Tonight had crucified him. Well, I'd tried to warn him that they would.
I'd tried to have a private conversation and support him and what he was doing.
I'd refused to condemn it publicly.
I'd refused to do interviews about it and join in all the hype.
And somehow I ended up on News at Ten anyway, and if I am being blamed for censoring art, that is quite simply not fair.
Oh well, never mind. I tried not to be on News at Ten, and \I didn't watch it on TV.

my pc's media players dont seem to like czech video lol. i dont know why maybe ill have a computer geek look at it.
anyway tonite i will be at the famous macy's department store-but not to shop. a friend of mine invited me to a show-modeling where the british actress elizabeth hurley will be present- ithink shes the model for one of the big u.s. clothing companies. man she is hot !!!!

Rachel, in relation to your comment on the art installation, I think that you were remarkably tolerant of Mr. McGowans concept. Personally I think that the real experience that you and the other 299 wounded people had is not something that others would desire to experience personally, nor do I think it could be recreated properly with injuring people. Way off the mark, this could never be an art installation.
Cynically perhaps I suspect Mr.McGowan's ultimate desire was to creat some publicity for himself. I think shame on him for abusing the kindness of your nature in actually discussing the whole idea with him and then making that public.
I love art in many shapes and forms, but often struggle to absorb the artistic value of installation art, most of it is pointless to me. (personal opinion)
On a more current note, it is now Feb 6 so presume your MS is finished and submitted and you are now taking your foot off the gas for a well earned rest before editing season. :-)

i finally got my media-video player to work and i watched it for a few minutes but i didnt see you or the kitty- it was a documentary about muslims in britain-it looked similiar to the cnn broadcast i told you about. are you guys on it somewhere? if so i will go back and watch the whole thing- quite a bit of it was in english and they translated it into czech.
